Perception of secondary school science and mathematics teachers on Professional development participation in Zamfara State, Nigeria

The study adopted a descriptive survey design to examine the perception of secondary school science and mathematics teachers on professional development in Zamfara State, Nigeria. population consisted all Science Mathematics public schools State. A sample 217 respondents were drawn through purposive simple random sampling techniques. Data collected using structured questionnaire. Four research questions two null hypotheses guided study. Analysis data was done statistics z-test. revealed that State have low level awareness various types programmes not been participating programmes. They ascribed these lack incentives, employer support, too expensive/unaffordable poor publicity. also identified content knowledge pedagogy teaching as major areas they needed development. groups no significant difference well barriers impeding their participation. recommended among others that, government should regularly sponsor attend explore take advantage numerous free opportunities.
